So Fuzzy Crew... The A’s To Our Q’s

/>Wooster: How did you get started in creating art for the street?
/>
So Fuzzy Crew: I had been living in San Francisco for about 8
years and had been inspired by people like "http://www.giantrobot.com/issues/issue09/twist/">twist, "http://www.obeygiant.com">shepard fairey, "http://www.graffiti.org/sfb/sanfran_4.html">reminisce and a lot of other
people who were prolific street artists - I spent loads of time riding the buses
looking out for their pieces. A lot of people who were skaters were also doing a
lot of lo-fi art shows and i would just go to the shows with drawings and pin
them up on the walls.. when i got back to the East End of london there was so
much vital art going on in the streets by banksy and others it felt like i had a
mission .  One night i got home from work, cut some more of my own stencils and
just went out locally and got creative…. I haven’t stopped .

/>Wooster: How did you come up with the characters that you use in your
art?

So Fuzzy Crew: One evening after a good smoke i sat down
with a pencil and a sheet of paper and i filled it with all the characters of
the so fuzzy crew… I had been looking through the ‘Pictograph’ book that
afternoon and i know i was directly influenced by it. Theres a second pictograph
book coming out soon, i can’t wait. Once i’d created the characters in 2cm high
form the next thing to do was to see how they looked on a street. that was the
best part

Wooster: What other street artists do you most
admire and why?

So Fuzzy Crew: "http://bleklerat.free.fr//">Blek, "http://www.banksy.co.uk/">Banksy, Basquiat, Keith Haring and "http://www.horizonmag.com/pictorial/barry-mcgee.htm">Barry McGee - they
have transformed the streets where we live and have inspired thousands of people
to think and to create art for themselves…

Wooster: What’s
your favorite 3 cities, neighborhoods, or blocks, to post and/or to see street
art?

So Fuzzy Crew: no.1 London , Rivington Street   no.2
New York , Lower East side no.3 Sao Paolo , Downtown   (brazil is the BOMB !
They have a totally unique style , it is amazing)

Wooster:
What inspires you now?

So Fuzzy Crew: Peace and Love is an
inspiration , but i dont see much of it around at the moment .... an end to war
in Iraq would be Inspirational…
